How to become an Au Pair

  • STEP 1: Apply online. 

  • STEP 2: Attend your interview. If you meet our requirements, you will be invited for an interview.

  • STEP 3: Our agency reviews and verifies your references

  • STEP 4: Attend your second interview if step 3 is successful

  • STEP 5: Receive vacancies 

  • STEP 6: Attend interviews with prospective families. We send your CV to families. Should they wish to meet you, we will arrange an interview.

  • STEP 5: Get hired! After a successful interview, we will discuss the final details.

NB Requirements

  • A passion for children!

  • Between the ages of 19 – 30 (preferred age depends on the family)

  • Reliable, committed and trustworthy

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Reliable car

  • No criminal record

  • Matric Certificate

  • Childcare Experience (families will not hire you if you have NO experience) - could be tutoring, aupairing, babysitting, coaching, involvement in youth groups etc.

  • Childcare related CV

  • Contactable childcare-related references

  • Non-Smoker

  • First Aid (preferable) or be open to attending a course

  • Be in good health

Au Pair Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe environment.

  • Creating an organised filing system for the family.

  • Fetching children from school.

  • Transporting children to extra murals, therapies, doctor’s appointments etc.

  • Supervising and assisting children with homework, ensuring that school work is up to date and completed each day.

  • Running errands and grocery shopping.

  • Engaging in intellectually stimulating play and activities.

  • Preparing healthy snacks and meals.

  • Encourages healthy habits and hygiene.

  • Must be adept at time management

  • Must be able to think on one's feet  (remember it's your job to make it easier for the parents)
